Consulate General of India provides following emergency services directly :

1. Visas for Diplomatic/ Official Passport/ Laissez-Passers holders

Applicants should fill in the application form online (https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/) and approach the Consulate with the completed application along with the Note Verbale, ID, passport/ laissez passer and two photos. The visa is gratis and issued as per normal norms. Kindly check the Consulate working hours.

2. Emergency Visa

Emergency visa for short term period (6 months) is provided to US citizens only to facilitate visits to India due to unfortunate incidents of loss of life, accident or serious illness of parents, children and nearest relatives.

Applicants should fill in the application form online (https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/) as prescribed for the Regular Visa and approach the Consulate in-person with the completed application, all necessary supporting documents.

Working hours for Emergency Visa: All working days (Submission time: 9.00 am - 1700) .The service is rendered the same day. For emergencies please contact the Emergency Consular Contact Number

Documents essential for grant of short-term Emergency visa

If the applicant is minor the following additional documents are required:

  • Both parents signature on visa form and it should be notarized.
  • Passport copies of both parents.
  • Copy of birth certificate.

E-Tourist Visa on arrival facility

RESTRICTIONS ON TOURIST VISA RE-ENTRY WITHIN 2 MONTHS LIFTED

The restriction on travelers on Tourist visa to have a gap of at least 2 months between two separate visits to India has now been lifted except for nationals of China, Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, Sudan, Afghanistan, foreigners of Pakistan origin and stateless persons.

Valid visa on expired passport

It is recommended that apply for transfer of visa from old passport to new passport through our outsourced agency Cox and Kings Global Services Pvt. Ltd. However with confirmation of concerned flight travel can be done in emergency carrying both passports (valid and expired).

Advisory on e-visa:

Visa applicants are advised to be mindful of the existence of unscrupulous agents for e-visa claiming to be approved /authorized by Government of India/Consulate in and around New York state. It is clarified that neither the Government of India nor the Consulate has agent/branch anywhere within its jurisdiction for the purpose of e-visa.
